LINEARlight Flex RGBW Colormix, or: How I learned to love maximum flexibility
Our OSRAM LINEARlight Flex RGBW Colormix LED strips are flexible in two senses of the word: On the one hand, because these approx. 5 m long strips are bendable and can thusbe optimally installed along concave or convex curved shapes – e.g. on handrails or in lightcoves. And on the other hand, because they allow you to use the full spectrum of light colors – e.g. for dynamic colored light scenarios, for energy-saving daylight use as part of Daylight Harvesting, for Human Centric Lighting (HCL) and for functions such as Tunable White or Dim to Warm.
Compared to our RGB LED modules, these RGBW modules have an additional high-quality white LED that emits pure white light with a CRI of 90. Therefore, our LINEARlight Flex RGBW Colormix LED strips are not only able to reproduce all colors optimally, but also provide pure white light in high light quality. The RGB LEDs alone produce good saturated colors, but the additional white LED chips can create infinite shades of pastel colors.
OTi DALI 24V 4CH DT6/8 G3: Dynamic lighting control with optimal efficiency
Within our system solution, OSRAM OPTOTRONIC intelligent DALI 24V 4CH DT6/8 G3 is the optimal linear LED driver to control the light efficiently and dynamically. This multichannel LED driver was also developed to respond to stricter standards compared to Generation 2 – but above all it was developed to offer additional DALI functions. And this without restricting the functions already available in any way.
For example, Generation 3 complies with the latest EMI limits even when the driver is used with cabling of up to 50 m to the LED module. This makes it possible, if necessary, to position the device very far away from the actual luminaire body, for example to simplify accessibility during installation, maintenance or repairs.
Probably the strongest argument for this driver, however, is that thanks to its specification as “Device Type 8” (DT8), only one address is required for use in RGBW color control mode. Compared to the competition, this means a large savings potential in terms of the number of drivers required. In addition, for DT8 Tunable White operation only, you can load the nominal driver power to each individual channel. For the operation in Tunable White mode, in fact, this means that an average color temperature can be achieved with 50 % power for warm white and 50 % power for cool white. It is no longer necessary, as with the earlier devices, to design the driver power for the total power of both modules.
Moreover, OTi DALI 24V 4CH DT6/8 allows DT6 or DT8 operation with a single device. The operating modes can be selected via integrated DIP switches or via the OSRAM Tuner4TRONIC software suite. The features of this device are rounded off by a very wide dimming range of 0.1…100 % without stroboscopic effects. So there is also a very high flexibility and light quality ensured here.
DALI PRO 2 IoT – the light management system from the future
The “brain” of our system solution, so to speak, is our state-of-the-art DALI PRO 2 IoT light management system. This controller is DALI-2-compatible, future-proof, quick to install and easy to program. It also enables scalable lighting projects that can be flexibly adapted and upgraded at any time – from controlling individual rooms to complete floors to entire buildings. This makes the DALI PRO 2 IoT the perfect device for leveraging the great potential of our OTi DALI 24V 4CH DT6/8 G3 LED drivers, especially for multi-channel applications such as Tunable White (TW), RGB or RGBW. This device also enables the integration into the Internet of Things (IoT), with functions such as Energy Monitoring and Maintenance Assistant (EM/MA).
